What living without boundaries feels like 😉
Hellooooo, you sparkly soul!
Most of us were trained from childhood to be nice.
Smile.
Don’t rock the boat.
Don’t hurt anyone’s feelings.
Be agreeable.
Be pleasant.
Be…manageable.
And while kindness is beautiful, soul-softening, and absolutely needed in this world, there’s a quiet truth we don’t talk about enough:
Being “nice” at the cost of your honesty, your desires, your energy, or your boundaries…isn’t kindness. It’s self-abandonment wrapped in politeness.
For years, I didn’t see it.
I thought I was being a good person — flexible, thoughtful, easygoing.
But here’s what I discovered when I finally cracked open my own shell:
My “niceness” wasn’t kindness. It was control.
I didn’t want to upset people because I couldn’t handle their emotions.
I didn’t say what I honestly felt because I feared the discomfort it might create.
I pushed down my own needs, desires, and instincts because I wanted the situation — and everyone in it — to feel…safe. Predictable. Smooth.
Being “nice” was my way of managing the emotional temperature of every room I walked into.
But when I learned that emotions — mine and theirs — are not threats but compasses, something inside me shifted.
I realized:
Other people’s emotions are not my responsibility.
My emotions are not problems to hide, but signals pointing me toward alignment.
Honesty is not harsh — it’s liberating.
Boundaries are not walls — they are invitations for deeper, healthier connection.
And suddenly, I didn’t have to control everything anymore.
I didn’t have to over-accommodate, over-function, or over-give.
The less I needed to control, the less I needed to be “nice.”
And the more I could finally be me — honest, grounded, loving, and free.
If this resonates… you’re not alone.
Many of us were shaped by the same unspoken rules:
Don’t be too much. Don’t disappoint anyone. Don’t take up space. Keep the peace at all costs.
But the cost is too high.
It’s time to reclaim your truth, your voice, your time, your energy — your pearl.
Shuck with love,
Jessica
