Frozen River Film Festival
Hellooooo, you sparkly soul!
This weekend, I went from freezing in a convent in Minnesota (where I felt like I should go to confession) to basking in the sun in a Vegas-style condo in Fort Lauderdale (a place to rack up sins for confession) for two different film festivals. Talk about a plot twist!
The two experiences were polar opposites though they did share really kind people who are passionate for films. The extremes of each environment really made me reflect on how life itself is built on contrasts.
Light and dark. Fear and love. Calm and chaos. Sweet and salty. (And, for the record, I’m in favor of both chocolate AND sea salt. Why choose one or the other when it can be an AND?)
Life is full of contradictions. We crave adventure but love the safety of home. We want to be seen yet hide behind a shell of “I’m fine.” We want to be spontaneous but panic when plans change. We say we want truth, but sometimes a well-placed compliment (even if it’s about my questionable karaoke skills) is what we really need.
It’s the tension of these opposites that helps us find our center, our balance, and the place we are meant to be.
The tension between fear and excitement? That’s where magic happens.
The tension between comfort and growth? That’s where we crack open.
The tension between perfection and disaster? That’s where we find… well, reality.
Instead of resisting this push and pull, maybe we need to embrace it. Maybe, just maybe, by leaning into it we actually find who we are.
Where are the polar opposites in your life revealing a pearl of wisdom?
I’d love to hear your thoughts—hit reply and let me know. I read every e-mail.
Shuck with love,
Jessica
P.S. A HUGE thanks to my family and friends that made it to the festivals. It was incredibly special to share such a privilege with you!!!
