A Week Immersed in Nature with the Downriver Divas
Hellooooo, you precious pearl,
I’m going back in time.
I forget who first said this to me, so my apologies for not giving full credit where credit is due. Someone recently told me:
“I’m allergic to my computer.”
This is exactly how I have been feeling.
I’ve been intentionally spending less time on mine lately. Not because I don’t love what technology makes possible, but because I’ve been craving things that require me to slow down, use my hands, and be in the real world.
So I started taking pottery.
There’s something about putting your hands in clay – working with the earth, feeling the texture, making something slowly, and being completely present with what’s right in front of you.
And then I started noticing something else.
Young people are knitting and crocheting.
They’re making things by hand.
They’re using film cameras.
They’re listening to vinyl records.
People are picking up hobbies their grandparents might have done.
Have you noticed this too?
There seems to be a quiet movement happening toward things that are tactile, handmade, and wonderfully imperfect.
Some people are calling it the Analog Movement.
But I wonder if there’s a better name for it.
- The Return to Real (my favorite)
- The Rewilding of the Human
- The Human Again Movement
- The Slow Rebellion
- The Great Unplugging
- The Movement Back to Ourselves
- The Art of Being Here
Or maybe we should call it something completely different.
Whatever we call it, I think there’s something here.
And I’ve realized that this little shift has made me think differently about how I want to serve you and this community.
I don’t just want to give you more content.
Maybe we need less screen time and more real life.
Less consuming and more creating.
Less information and more experience.
Less scrolling and more shucking.
So I’m asking:
- What are you craving?
- What would feel meaningful to you?
- What would actually help you live a better, more connected, the good shucking life?
Would you be willing to share your thoughts with me?
I created a short survey, and I’d genuinely love to hear from you.
Your answers will help me shape what comes next and make sure what I’m creating is actually serving you. Plus, I’ll send you a little surprise as a thank you.
TAKE THE SURVEY HERE
Because maybe the next chapter isn’t about creating more noise.
It’s about creating more connection.
And that’s something worth going back in time for.
Slowing down to shine more,
Jessica
