3 Impractical Ways to Get Through Holidays

My family’s holiday spirit!!!

Holidays, okay life, can be stressful. This is why I suggest you do the following:

  • Return your kids to Amazon – I hear returns are easy if you just drop them at Whole Foods these days
  • Close your bedroom door, binge on Netflix, and put a sign on it that says “Do NOT open until January 1st” (You can choose which year)
  • Do a solo trip to Fiji (I can’t help you if you are actually the problem you are trying to escape from)

In all seriousness, it can be a really hard time of year for people. Some people are missing loved ones, some are overwhelmed with consumerism, and others may see old family patterns surfacing that still need to be healed.

If this resonates for you in any way, please consider focusing on your mental health through the holidays – and really, all year long. I know it is hard to get in to therapists now and cost can be prohibitive as well.

Here are some more practical ways you can stay emotionally healthy through the holidays:

☮️ AA or AlAnon – they teach many of the same principles I do with coaching, completely free, close to your home, and offered at so many times.
💜 Follow Kim Pollinder on Instagram (@kp_counseling) – a brilliant therapist, and dear friend, that focuses on relationship dynamics and offers super affordable and powerful weekend workshops
⚾️ Pillow Fight – Buy a whiffle ball bat and hit a pillow for 10 minutes or more. I am serious. So many of our emotions are stuck and this lets them out in a healthy way.
📝Emotional Release Journaling – set an intention to let go of what is no longer serving you and just write freely, without judgement, for 10 minutes on loose leaf paper. Rip it up in tiny pieces and throw it in your garbage outside.
👟 Get Movement – Just 10 minutes of walking a day can change your life. Surreal Cycling is another way by focusing on your physical, mental, AND emotional health. Even better, Todd just happens to be my partner in life so I can attest to his commitment to your overall wellbeing.

As always, I am here for you too. Just e-mail me at jessica@lifeshucker.com and we will set up some time to support you.

Wishing you a healthy and happy holiday!!!
